Feeling Lost in Divorce? The Just Separated Workbook is Your Guide

This is the finished Just Separated: Hands-on Workbook for Your Separation & Divorce

What if navigating the turbulent waters of divorce didn’t have to feel so isolating and confusing? Over three years ago, Divorce Workshop was born from a candid conversation in a backyard, where we shared our personal experiences grappling with the overwhelming emotions of separation. Like many, we faced confusion and regret over the many mistakes we made before, during, and after our divorces.

This was our very first Divorce Workbook in 2022 - 80 pages

In our first year, we created an initial Divorce Workbook—a concise guide of about 80 pages covering six core units: Insights into Divorce, Legal Information, Emotions, Financial Information, Co-Parenting, and Recovery. While we felt proud of this achievement, reflecting on our experiences made it clear that we had only scratched the surface of what individuals truly face during divorce and cohabitation breakups. We recognized the need for a more comprehensive resource that addressed the critical aspects of this journey clearly and practically.

Driven by our passion to support others, we immersed ourselves in research, writing, and meticulously planning the original 'workouts,' alongside graphic design. One day, I turned to Kirk and said: 'I see this book as a foundational tool for support and clarity for those navigating divorce, and I want them to be empowered to help them reclaim their lives and find strength in their journey”.

A Game Changer

The game changer in this new edition is the incorporation of 55 original ‘workouts’—interactive exercises designed to help readers better understand themselves, their behaviors, and the complexities of divorce. These workouts include questions like "Am I a good co-parent?", "Who are you divorcing?", and "Am I good with money?" Engaging in these exercises fosters a deeper understanding of oneself, promoting personal growth throughout the divorce process. Our goal was to create a practical, engaging, and affordable resource that individuals could turn to whenever they needed guidance. Divorce can be overwhelming, and having a hands-on tool makes a significant difference.

Now, more than two years later, we are thrilled to share the culmination of our efforts—Just Separated: A Hands-on Workbook for Your Separation & Divorce. This comprehensive and affordable resource is designed to empower individuals on their journey to healing and renewal.

This is one of our first original ‘workouts’ designed in 2021 for the Recovery Unit.

Graphically Pleasing Design:
We wanted the workbook to be as engaging to look at as it is to read. Each page has been thoughtfully designed with distinct sections, making working through the book an enjoyable experience. We believe that beautiful design can ease the challenging journey of divorce, inviting you to spend time on each page.

Personal Insights and Experiences

Lessons Learned:
Throughout our own divorces, we learned invaluable lessons about resilience, self-compassion, and the importance of community. These experiences shaped our approach to creating this workbook—not just as a collection of practical tools, but as a deeply personal resource that shares both our successes and vulnerabilities.

We faced challenges throughout this project, often feeling overwhelmed. Yet, we persevered. I vividly remember spending an entire weekend developing just one of the 55 interactive workouts—the "Me to WE and Back to Me" exercises in the Recovery Unit. It was crucial to help individuals reconnect with themselves after a relationship ends.

Our Experience as Divorce Coaches

As divorce coaches, we have worked with numerous clients facing the challenges of separation and divorce. Through these sessions, we’ve gained invaluable insights into the feelings of overwhelm, confusion, and emotional turmoil that often arise in this uncertain territory. Many individuals feel lost, much like we once did, as they navigate the complexities of their situation.

This workbook is informed not only by our personal experiences and education but also by the stories shared by our clients. Recognizing these common feelings of naivety and isolation, we are dedicated to equipping individuals with essential strategies to help them regain control. It serves as a foundational resource for anyone seeking clarity and strength, drawing on our collective knowledge and experiences.
